H1B numbers are still available.  As of July 10, USCIS reports that only 44,900 H1-B cap subject applications have been received.
Therefore, the H1-B route is still a good avenue for many clients.

The US Senate just passed the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations bill. It is now headed to President Obama for approval, which is expected.

EB-5 Investor Visa is useful for those who want to start a business in the US with a substantial amount ($500,000 to one million dollars) and create 10 jobs. It offers permanent residency (green card), which is an advantage of other business visas, such as the E-2.

The EB-5 Regional Center Pilot Program has been extended until March 6, 2009 (yes, that’s next year). Presumably,further extensions (or a permanent one) would be taken up by the next administration.
